I have been getting 404 errors on a site I have just developed, and it's just occurred to me why.

The 'normal' url is in the following form;

page-name.cfm?param=some-info

I have linkfreeze set up to use '-' as the replacement.  Therefore, on the page the following url would be shown as such;

page-name-param-some-info.htm

The 404's being generated I guess comes from the fact that the document name and parameter both include '-', which is confusing the system (as it is presumably looking for a document called page.cfm?).

Ideally, in order to keep url's looking clean and easy to follow, I want to stick with using '-' as the rule, as well as in document names and parameters.  Is there is way to do this, or am I stuck with having to use different characters?

Thanks in advance for any replies :-)

Your assumption about character confusing the system is correct. You will need to encode this character in parameters using %XX syntax or try to remove these characters from parameters at all.

Thanks for the reply Yaroslav.

That is sadly disappointing, kind of defeats the purpose unfortunately.
