I recently was forced to migrate an ASP ecommerce site that was running on Server 2003 IIS6 x86 > over to Server 2008 R2 IIS 7.5.  I had installed Isapi Rewrite 3 on the W2k3 box and the rewrites were working fine.  I installed and registered the latest version of Isapi Rewrite 3.0 x64 on the new server.  I get 404 errors when I click links to products on the site, the rewrite is not working the way it did.

My .htaccess file looks like this:

# Helicon ISAPI_Rewrite configuration file
# Version
# Canonical name 301 redirect
RewriteCond $1 ^(index\.asp)?$ [OR]
# or if request is for image, css, or js file
RewriteCond $1 \.(gifjpgicocssjs)$ [NC,OR]
# or if URL resolves to existing file
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
# or if URL resolves to existing directory
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
# then skip the rewrite to WP
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ - [S=1]
# else rewrite the request to WP
RewriteRule . /handle_url.asp?url=%{REQUEST_FILENAME} [L,QSA]

I'm new to IIS 7.5 and trying to work my way through the learning curve all the hurdles.  I can't seem to figure out what is wrong and looking for suggestions.  Any would be appreciated.

You can start with NTFS permissions for your .htaccess file.
Then you may be interested in looking at the error.log file and providing it.

I modified the httpd.conf file with RewriteRule .? - [F].  I got the response "403 Forbidden", acoording to the notes thats a good thing.

I enabled the logging and the error log reports the following:

[3/1/2012 22:26:11] C:\Program Fileles\Helicon\ISAPI_Rewrite3\httpd.conf - Loaded successfully
[3/1/2012 22:26:11] d:\wwwroot\xxxxxxxxxx\.htaccess - Loaded successfully

So it appears to be loading properly however any time I click on an internal link that is supposed to be re-written I get a 404 error.  I made changes to NTFS permissions but stil cannot get the site to function.

Any other suggestions?
