Hi all,

We are using ISAP Rewrite 3.0 with an IIS server on our live environment but Apache on development machines.

We are introducing gzip/HTTP compression to our websites which is fine in IIS but to do it in Apache we need the following lines in the .htaccess files:

# compress text, html, javascript, css, xml:
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/plain
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/xml
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/css
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/xml
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/xhtml+xml
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/rss+xml
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/javascript
AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-javascript

# Or, compress certain file types by extension:
<FilesMatch "\.(htm|html|css|js|jpg|gif)$">
SetOutputFilter DEFLATE

The .htaccess file contains a lot of rewrite rules as well.

My question is, will ISAP Rewrite 3 ignore the DEFLATE lines and just 'interpret' the rewrite ones ? Or will the DEFLATE lines cause a problem on our live server ?

Hello Adam,

ISAPI_Rewrite doesn't support those directives.
They will be ignored with multiple error messages in error.log

Thanks for the reply AndrushkaUS.

I just need to check with our IST departments if they are happy with that.
