Hello there.

My .htaccess files aren't being recognized for sites whose Home Directory is set to a share located on another computer. .htaccess files for sites stored locally work fine.

The files are stored on a unix machine, and listing the directory reveals that I have read permissions for owner, group, and others:

Code:
-rwxrw-rw-  1 root root     138 Jan  4 13:21 .htaccess

The containing folder also has full read permission.

What am I missing here? Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks for your reply. I have somewhat solved my issue, but not securely.

This was a Samba permission issue. I tailed smbd.log and kept seeing this error:

Code:
authorise_login: rejected invalid user nobody

After allowing guest/nobody access, my .htaccess file was recognized and my URL was successfully rewritten.

The problem now is that I don't want to allow guest access to my Samba share. What user does the ISAPI_ReWrite3 plugin run under, and how can I make it play nice with Samba?

Thank you for any additional information!
