Users are trying to download large 2GB files. The files
fully download, but users receive "Cannot open file: it
does not appear to be a valid archive".

I have narrowed it down to the fact that we're using
RewriteProxy to connect from IIS to the JBoss backend.
Smaller files work fine. I also know there is nothing
wrong with this file because turn off the proxy I can
download it directly from IIS. I know it's not JBoss,
because I can download and open the file successfully on
our dev boxes that use Isapi Rewrite but don't use the
proxy.

There seems to be a timeout issue. Any suggestions?

Hello,

Please, provide the version of ISAPI_Rewrite you have (build).

We've just downloaded 5Gb file through proxy using 3.1.0.87 build.
Flawless. No issues with the file.

Is there a way you can compare these two files and provide a report?

regards
Andrew

Not really.

Here is what I use for my proxy.

Code:
# PP - Proxy to JBoss
RewriteCond %{HTTP:Host}
(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.*)\.
(png|jpg|gif|js|css|swf|flv|html|txt|cgi|htm|xml|pdf|pptx
|doc|swf|flv|mp3|wmv|xml|ico|jad|zip)
RewriteProxy (.*) http\://192.168.200.18\:8080$1 [NC,P,U]

Do you see anything I should change? Is there anything I
should add to prevent the timeout?

I am using Windows 2008 64bit R2 on IIS7.  Same thing happens on an XP box as well.

Why does my stuff wrap when I post it to this forum?

Well,

try to start downloading using Firefox and take a look at firebug, if any download mistakes occur.
After that you can try comparing files using Binary Compare Tool.

What stuff? wrap?
