Hi there,

Wondering if you can help clarify something for me?

Can Isapi Rewrite 2 be used to reverse proxy to an external website not hosted at the same site?

e.g. when I try

RewriteRule /nhsearch(.*) http://search.example.co.uk$1 [I,O,RP,L]

it works and e.g. http://mysite/nhsearch/test.html gets redirected to http://search.example.co.uk/test.html

but when I try it with proxy e.g.

RewriteRule /nhsearch(.*) http://search.example.co.uk$1 [I,O,P,L]

I get 'The requested resource could not be found.'

I have followed all the instructions for the install so things should be set up correctly. Any ideas? Is there anything I may be missing?

Thanks in advance

Firstly, please make sure you are using Full, not Lite version of ISAPI_Rewrite (as only Full version supports proxy).
If it's Full, please check if proxy dll is registered.
And if it's ok, please try to proxy to another site and report whether the error persists or disappears.

Thanks for your reply.

We are using the full version and the proxy dll is registered.

I have tried proxying to another site and the same error persists.

Thanks again

Please also check if the proxy extension is marked as allowed.

It's becoming rather difficult to identify the reason of such behavior.
Is it possible to have remote access to your server to check what's wrong?
If yes, you could provide the access credentials to [email protected] with reference to this forum topic.
