Hi guys, i am a newbie in vb.net 3.5

I've created a fairly complex site forums/e-commerce and its come to my attention that i need to implement url re-writing but i am lost.

Many examples are in C# well that just confuses me because i am learning vb. So i contacted my hosting provider and he adviced me to post here....He has IIS and Helicon Ape installed on his servers.

He told me to create a isapi.init file with re-write rules to obviously upload to the server.

Can any Tech guys show me what to do? My site will have plenty QueryString Parameters.

I.E
1. How to create the file?
2. What the url re-write language is?
3. best naming conventions for QueryString re-writes.
4. Plenty more

Any help is really appreciated.

URL Re-Writing has got me stumped.

Regards

Tez

HEllo,

As your hosting provider has HeliconApe installed there're basic concepts described in documentation
This documentation on mod_rewrite fully describes all details.

Please, do not hesitate to create a separate ticket in case some points haven't been clear enough.

Hello Tez,

probably, isapi.init is customly defined file that your provider has set up for Ape. Usually it needs to be in the root of web-site.
I'm not quite sure I got the whole idea, but I can suggest taking a look:
- "comprehensive mapfiles" in FAQ
Usually users create scripts to auto-fill the mapfile.
