I am having problems running ISAPI Rewrite 3.

I am running it on a Windows 2003 server, IIS 6.

The application pool is using a different security
account to run (instead of Network Service); let's call
it domain\foobar for now. However, I've granted
domain\foobar modify access to the ISAPI_Rewrite3
directory in Program Files, but it doesn't work. I've
also added that account to the machine's IIS_WPG group as
described in the ISAPI Rewrite's documentation, as well
as granted that group modify permissions as well, with no
luck.

My rules definitely work, because I temporarily switched
the application pool identity to network service, and it
worked fine.

How can I configure the server to make ISAPI Rewrite 3
work with this particular account?

Have you tried giving the permissions to the isapi .dll file, .htaccess and congif file directly?
There might be several different groups that may interact.

The main idea is, as you mentioned, to give permissions to the user that runs pool.
After that you may need to recycle pool(if iisreset is not possible).

That didn't work. I even (temporarily) tried granting the user administrative access to the server, with no luck.

Is this a bug in ISAPI_Rewrite?

No it is not. Many people suffer from permission issue because of security issues, but eventially after
granting access to isapi .dll, config, .htaccess, whole 'Helicon' folder, will fix that for sure.

We can set up online meeting in case you'll contact us via helpdesk or email.
There's also a nice option called Premium Support Plan that you may use.

Andrew,

Unfortunately, I was not able to fix it as previously
discussed. Granting permissions to the Helicon directory
for the custom user and the IUSR account did not work.

Any other suggestions?
