Is there any documentation on how to use authentication
with RewriteRule? I am using IIS6.

Specifically:
* Does digestAuthentication work at all?
* Which location do I need to set the authentication on?
The friendly unwritten URL? The real URL? Both of these?
What happens for multiple rules?

Any help would be appreciated.

Glenn

HEllo,

In case you do not use any proxying with ISAPI_Rewrite, than IIS does all authorization.
In case you do have some proxying, please describe the situation and we'll try to help you.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I am not using any proxying, so does that mean I can simply set the authentication I require on the 'real' url and ignore the prettyfied one?

I should probably add that, in IIS 6, Digest Authentication
is AuthMD5.

After some experimentation, I do not think it works with
url rewriting.
