Hi,
We presently use Isa Rewrite 2 for Google Safe Search to force it to strict. I have noticed Google had now released their SSL site which bypasses our rules.

Is there an easy way or append 'safeseach=strict' to https google requests? They are presently google are using https://encrypted.google.com. Or is it easier to force anyone going to https site to be redirected to http?

The present rewrite code in place is:
RewriteRule (.*)?www.google\.co(.*/[^?]*)(\?.*)?  $1www.google.co$2(?3$3&:\webhp?)safe=strict [I,L]
RewriteRule (.*)?images.google\.co(.*/[^?]*)(\?.*)?  $1images.google.co$2(?3$3&:\webhp?)safe=strict [I,L]
RewriteRule (.*)?video.google\.co(.*/[^?]*)(\?.*)?  $1video.google.co$2(?3$3&:\webhp?)safe=strict [I,L]

Thanks in advance for any help.

Julian

Could you please give the specific examples of what you want to achieve.
And I'll provide you with the rules.

Hi Anton,
I want to append 'safesearch-strict' onto the end of any search using the new SSL Google Beta site https://encrypted.google.com

If you go to https://encrypted.google.com and enter 'xxx' into the search field it allows you to see everything. However if you are at google.com it forces safesearch to strict.

Hi Anton,
Can it be done a different way?
Is it possible to create a rule that appends safesearch=strict to any https
request?

Thanks
Julian

"Is it possible to create a rule that appends safesearch=strict to any https request?"
- yes, sure. Here it is:

[ISAPI_Rewrite]
RewriteCond %HTTPS on
RewriteCond Host: (.*)
RewriteRule (.*?)(\?.*)? https\://$1$2(?3$3&:\?)safe=strict [I,L]

Hi Anton,

I have tried your suggestion and it does not appear to be working. I have
tested this in the ini file on its own and still https sites are being allowed
through without the append taking place. We would require this for 1 site
which is https://encrypted.google.com and for it to be appended with the
safesearch=strict

as an example the appended url would be:
https://encrypted.google.com/?safesearch=strict

Thanks
Julian

Let's give this a try:

[ISAPI_Rewrite]
RewriteCond %HTTPS (?!.*off.*).*
RewriteCond Host: encrypted\.google\.com
RewriteRule (.*?)(\?.*)? https\://encrypted.google.com$1(?2$2&:\?)safesearch=strict [I,RP]

If it doesn't work, please show the IIS log records and look into httpd.parse.errors file for possible messages.
