Hi

I am concerned about Google AdWords auto tagging and whether or not the links will be recognized by google adwords/analytics.

A page on an active site of mine using link freeze has the following URL

http://www.aqualinesaunas.co.uk/category.asp/catID/1/infrared-saunas-sauna-kits-infrared-therapy.htm

If I create an advert in GoogleAdWords and target to the page above, with Auto Tagging switched on, google will append the URL like so

http://www.aqualinesaunas.co.uk/category.asp/catID/1/infrared-saunas-sauna-kits-infrared-therapy.htm?gclid=CK3ZpOSspKICFR9k4wodPmYAvQ

The page displays OK but would the tracking actually work??

Thanks, James

I'm pretty sure Google will track those URLs fine.
But it's better to ask this question to Google itself, 'cause what i can say for sure is that there's no issues with LinkFreeze.

Thanks Anton, my programmer has mentioned before about issues with link freeze and tracking, ie its difficult to track sales from affiliates as they cant simply append a url from link freeze as appending at the end of the url does not work / is not recognized.

Sorry, but can't fully understand your problem. I see that the page can be accessed with and without this query string just fine.
Where does the problem occur?

P.S. Please tell what IIS version do you have. On IIS 7 you can use our Helicon Ape mod_linkfreeze module which allows to specify which
parameters should be frozen and which shouldn't. See details and examples here.

Its a win 2003 server so I'm on IIS6.

Yes the page does display fine, the problem was with appending urls for tracking purposes.

Example:
This is a site I work on and Ive added some test google tracking code (See http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?answer=55578)

So the URL is
http://www.envie4u.co.uk/category.asp/catID/10/swimwear.htm?utm_source=testsite&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=swimwear

I'll test in 24 hours and see if any hits are recognized but I dont think it works as due to LinkFreeze everything after then end of .htm is ignored.

Regards, J

Actually it should work, as this phrase "everything after then end of .htm is ignored" is not quite correct.
Looking forward to the report after 24 hours.
