Hi,

We are having problems with our installation of ISAPI rewrite 3, the .htaccess rules arent working.

We have a registered version of ISAPI Rewrite 3. Version 3.1.0.71. The global rules (httpd.conf) work fine but individual .htaccess rules do not work.

Example of what we are testing in .htaccess:

# Helicon ISAPI_Rewrite configuration file
# Version 3.1.0.71

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule .? - [F]

I have tried several other tests in .htaccess but nothing works, I can however get them to work ok if I copy to httpd.conf.

Any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated.

I am having same problem.  httpd.ini is working (in webserver's root) while individual site files are not working.  In addition to this, I am also getting following errors

Line 3: Unrecognized string: RewriteEngine On
Line 4: Unrecognized string: RewriteLogLevel 9
Line 5: Unrecognized string: RewriteMap mapfile txt:mapfile.txt

Here is my simple webroot httpd.ini file

[ISAPI_Rewrite]

RewriteEngine On
RewriteLogLevel 9
RewriteMap mapfile txt:mapfile.txt
RewriteRule ^/garvey/index.cfm/bio-details/([^?/]+)\/ /garvey/index.cfm/bio-details/?id=${mapfile:$1} [I,L]

HEre is my main Helicon folder httpd.ini file

[ISAPI_Rewrite]

# 3600 = 1 hour
CacheClockRate 3600

RepeatLimit 32

# Block external access to the httpd.ini and httpd.parse.errors files
RewriteRule /httpd(?:\.ini|\.parse\.errors).* / [F,I,O]
# Block external access to the Helper ISAPI Extension
RewriteRule .*\.isrwhlp / [F,I,O]

What am I missing? help someone

TO davex2cms: the problem you've described is probably related to the fact that you've installed LITE version. It has certain limits that
you can find here. It uses httpd.conf ONLY.

TO web_guru2003: your issues is that you're using ISAPI_Rewrite 2, but not 3. The syntax is quite different, and what you're trying to do
is to put rules for version 3 inside config file of version 2.

Andrew

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

We installed the version 3 full and it is registered, we did previously have ISAPI rewrite 2 Lite installed but that was un-installed before we instaleld ISAPI rewrite 3 full.

Is there anyway to check to make sure that it is recognising this is the full registered version? It does say in Helicron Manager -> About ISAPI_Rewrite, that is it Registered to: ...... so it must be the full version?

Well in this case it might be caused by permissions for .htaccess, its folder and user under which the
application pool is running.

I'm having the same problem with ISAPI/rewrite 3.1.0.72

I previously installed the free lite version which worked fine with httpd.conf so I uninstalled the free version and installed the 45 day demo, I can modify the .htaccess file via the Helicon Manager and via FTP but the commands in the .htaccess files have no affect.

What should the correct permissions and application pool be?

The have to be permissions for the user, under which the application pool is running.

You might simply have LITE version installed. Just create a new ticket and describe your issue in new forum.
