I am new to this product. I installed a trial version on my localhost (Windows XP). I cannot resolve http://localhosts/. I have to type in the default document name for it to work, http://localhosts/default.aspx and yes is at the top of my document list.

Here is what I have in the .htaccess file
# Helicon ISAPI_Rewrite configuration file
# Version 3.1.0.66

#product info page
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^/products/([^/]+)/([^/]+)/([^/]+)/([^/]+)\.html /products/productinfo.aspx?p1=$1&p2=$2&pname=$3&pid=$4 [NC,L]

The rewrite rult in place works just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am sure it is something really simple that I omitted.

I can't think of a way ISAPI_Rewrite can affect this.
Are you sure the problem doesn't persist with ISAPI_Rewrite off?

It would not work until I uninstalled ISAPI_Rewrite3. I had previously installed ISAPI_Rewrite Lite and never removed it before installing ISAPI_Rewrite3.
ISAPI_Rewrite failed to remove.

I re-installed  ISAPI_Rewrite3 and I could still get to my default page, but my rewrite rule would only work in the httpd.conf file and not in hte .htaccess file.

Anybody have reasons for that?

"I had previously installed ISAPI_Rewrite Lite and never removed it before installing ISAPI_Rewrite3.
ISAPI_Rewrite failed to remove." - sorry, I didn't quite get this part.
Could you please clarify what version (and build) of ISAPI_Rewrite you have installed now. Is it Full of Lite version?
Please go to IIS - Web sites properties - ISAPI filters and tell what filter(s) are registered there.
Do you have any ISAPI filters registered on per-site basis?

Originally, I had installed the lite version then installed the full version on top of it. Since then I have removed both and the full version.

In the default web site (as my local is just XP Pro) ISAPI_Rewrite.dll is in the ISAPI filter list. That is the only filter listed.

Thanks for the help.

Could you please provide rewrite and error log records for the request that doesn't work as expected.
Also please check Default document settings for your site.
