Hi I've downloaded the evalutaion copy of Rewrite and installed on a Windows2003 server with IIS6.

What is the recommended maximum number of rules for a site. I have create a httpd.ini file with 850 rules as below?

Would this number of rules cause a performance issue?

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^/newskin/Fathers-Day-Crafts-Card-Kits\.htm$ /listproducts.asp?id=716&xgroupid=25&subxgroupid=716 [I,L]
RewriteRule ^/newskin/Fathers-Day-Crafts-Craft-Basics\.htm$ /listproducts.asp?id=715&xgroupid=25&subxgroupid=715 [I,L]
RewriteRule ^/newskin/Fathers-Day-Crafts-Craft-Kits-Groups\.htm$ /listproducts.asp?id=714&xgroupid=25&subxgroupid=714 [I,L]
RewriteRule ^/newskin/Fathers-Day-Crafts-Craft-Kits-Individual\.htm$ /listproducts.asp?id=713&xgroupid=25&subxgroupid=713 [I,L]

Hm, your config is the mixture of v2 and v3 syntax.
If you are using ISAPI_Rewrite3, I advise you to use map files functionality
(see examples here and

We don't recommend to have more than 150-200 rules in the config, 'cause it may affect the server performance (though not necessarily).
